Will that match the curtains?

2015 is going to be a big year for Bilue. It is now time we grow up, put our big boy pants on and move out on our own. We’ve waved goodbye to Tank Stream Labs having sheltered us well for the last 2 years. For the last month we’ve been renovating a brand new office just for Bilue (and friends). Mind you we haven’t moved far, just across the road. You can now find us at Bilue’s Homeland on Level 1, 6 Bridge St, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

A lovely office with room for all of our staff, client drop-ins and meeting rooms that aren’t always booked out. We consider ourselves extremely lucky to have our own outdoor ‘rooftop terrace’. We didn’t even know it was possible for one to be on the first level until now, we love it!

It hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing. The office needed a renovation and refitting, a challenge that proved just as fun as it was stressful. Carpet was ripped up, floor boards polished, a false ceiling removed, light and power cables refitted all before the walls and ceilings were painted. But it wouldn’t have been a renovation without the commissioning of a custom breakfast bar, collaboration table and boardroom table top.

Professionals were called in for most of the ugly jobs but we rolled up our sleeves and accomplished what we could ourselves. All the fun happened on the weekend before the first official day in the office (31st January - 1st February). Starting with a Friday night Poker Championship, the entire team got together and painted the entire back half of the office. Spray guns, rollers, ladders and Espresso Martinis were used to full effect.

On our first day we #BrokeTheInternet, a door sensor and found out our building didn’t have bins. On the second, we managed to set the security alarm off without knowing how to turn it off, resulting in everyone standing in the rain for the daily standups. By day three, we’re sure we’re going to have all the bugs ironed out and get the whiteboards installed.

There is still plenty of room for iteration but I think we’ve reached an MLP (Minimum Loveable Product) for the new Bilue office. I can’t wait to see it in a few weeks’ time.

As a team we’re proud to have a place that we can call our home. We look forward to making an impression on our clients, crafting a space fit for Bilue’s rich culture to grow and simply a place where we can all have fun. Don’t get me started on summer afternoon BBQs out on the roof sipping Cameron’s Espresso Martinis!

So, if you are in town, be sure to give us a shout. We would love to give you a tour of the office and have a chat about your projects.
